GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – Seventh District Republican Congressman Tim Walberg was one of two Michigan congressmen who claim they were denied access to a site housing migrant children separated from their parents at the Mexican border.
Walberg and fellow Republican Congressmen Bill Huizenga of Zeeland say the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement would not allow them to see children in the care of Bethany Christian Services in Grand Rapids yesterday.
Bethany Christian Services has been finding temporary foster homes for about 50 children affected by the family separations at the border.
A bill introduced in the House by Huizenga last week aims to reunite separated families as soon as possible.
