COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The average price of gas in Michigan is up slightly, rising two-cents a gallon in the past week. Triple-A Michigan says the average price is now $4.19 a gallon, which is down 70-cents from last month but still a $1.10 than last year.
Around Branch County as we begin another work week the average pump price in Branch County is right in line with the state average at $4.19. A quick check this morning we found regular unleaded with prices between $4.09 up to $4.25. Around the area St Joseph County was at $4.17 per gallon on average, Calhoun County sits at $4.11 and Hilldale County checks in with some of the lowest prices in all of Michigan at $4.03 per gallon.
Indiana continues to have the lowest gas prices in the nation at $3.34 per gallon on average with some stations in Steuben County as low as $3.17 per gallon.
Oil prices tumbled after President Donald Trump said the U.S. has completed a deal with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Oil futures for July delivery dropped below $80 per barrel for the first time since March at last check this morning oil was down nearly 5% today at 74.50 per barrel. Analyst say as long as the US peace deal with Iran holds we should start seeing some relief at the pumps in the coming days and weeks.
