COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – LifeCare Ambulance response time goals for priority one calls for the month of May exceeded the criteria established under terms of a three-year contract with Branch County.
LifeCare Vice President of Operations Brian Walls told the Branch County 911 Communications Board on Wednesday that their priority one calls in the county were at 84 percent of compliance with an average response time of eight minutes and 53 seconds.
He added priority three calls contract goals were met 94 percent of the time with an average response time of 12 minutes and 54 seconds.
Walls said they are now providing monthly updates to area fire chiefs especially after they had some staffing challenges.
He reported staffing is still increasing, calls volumes are going up steadily, response averages are stabilizing and they are headed in the right direction.
The three year contract which went into effect in January of 2025 between Branch County and LifeCare Ambulance calls for response times of 15 minutes or less on 80 percent of emergency or priority one calls. The same percentage applies to 30 minute priority three non-emergency calls.
Walls presents quarterly reports to the Branch County Board of Commissioners which details their response time performances.
LifeCare faces a five percent reduction in quarterly subsidy payments if response time goals are not met. The agreement with the county waives the penalty in cases like extreme weather and system overloads.
