COLDWATER,MI (WTVB) – Tommy’s Express Car Wash in Coldwater is launching a first-time partnership with the Branch County Sheriff’s Office to raise money for the annual “Shop with a Hero” Christmas shopping event.
This Saturday ,every single car wash, regardless of the wash package level, will be donated directly to the program.
Organizers are hoping to tap into the site’s high traffic volume, which averages roughly 600 vehicles a day, to secure an estimated $1,200 boost for local families for the holiday season.
Captain Todd Riley with the Sheriff’s Department says the holidays can be stressful for area families
The “Shop with a Hero” program is a beloved holiday tradition in Branch County that pairs local children with law enforcement deputies and first responders to shop for Christmas gifts. Participating children get to ride in emergency vehicles with full lights and sirens activated to Walmart to select gifts for themselves and their families.
Tommy’s General Manager Janet Musselman says she remembers the feeling of seeing the emergency vehicles making the annual shopping trip down US-12 and this is a way to give back
Organizers note that the final number of children who can participate depends heavily on community fundraisers like this one, making the event extra important to maximizing the magic for local youth.
The fundraiser day will run from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will feature on-site police cruisers, free giveaways, and complimentary Kona Ice treats for the first 50 members arriving after 11:00 a.m.
