COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The old U.S. 12 bridge removal project is now officially done.
Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker said in his report to the City Council Monday night that a protective security fence has been installed on both sides of the river where the bridge used to be located.
He added the City will do some additional clean up work on both sides of the river and will continue to research options for a possible pedestrian bridge replacement.
The E.T. MacKenzie Company of Grand Ledge removed the nearly century old bridge this spring at a cost of over $147,000.
The bridge was removed after engineers from Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr and Huber determined last August it was no longer safe to walk across or drive a boat underneath it.
