COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council Monday passed a resolution which authorizes the city to buy three foreclosed properties at a cost of just over $14,400. The State of Michigan is making the blighted properties at 29 Lawton, 105 East Washington and 84 East Pierce available after they were foreclosed due to delinquent property taxes.
City Assessor Debra Sikorski said there were numerous violations on all three properties especially the one on Lawton, which has been cited for 52 violations over the last 15 years. The property on East Washington has had 20 violations and there have been 16 violations during the last ten years for the property on East Pierce.
Baker said the other East Washington and East Pierce properties are candidates for renovation.
The city has already renovated two properties and put them back on the tax rolls.
