COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners indicated Thursday they want to integrate an architect into the process of a new county jail before the August millage question.
County Administrator Bud Norman pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of pursuing that course of action.
He said this will be a large project with significant financial implications. Norman added it is already generating interest in and out-of-state.
No formal action was taken by Commissioners Thursday.
Commissioner Terri Norris felt they have to show the public they are behind the jail project and that it will be passed in August.
She and Commission Chair Ted Gordon were in favor of sending out Request for Proposals.
Part of the R.F.P. would call for the potential architect to have a certain amount of experience. Norman said he will put together a report on a timeline for Commissioners that they can review at their next work session.
