COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Consumers Energy utility crews continue working around the clock as power outages from weekend storms enter their fifth day.
As of this morning, a system-wide total of 5,388 customers remain without electricity following the severe weather.
Line workers and support personnel face complicated repair zones to replace downed poles and tangled wires, prioritizing the hardest-hit municipal circuits to safely bring the remaining areas back online.
Kalamazoo County remains the most heavily impacted area, accounting for the vast majority of the remaining blackouts with 3,925 customers still in the dark.
Elsewhere across the area, localized outages persist with 651 affected homes in Jackson County, 334 in Hillsdale County, 168 in Branch County, and 34 in Calhoun County. Meanwhile, restoration efforts are nearly complete in St. Joseph County, where only one single customer is still waiting for power to be safely restored to their property.
Consumers said Monday it may be midweek before restoration efforts are completed.
