COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater Planning Commission approved a request from Jepson Electric on Monday night to build a 5,000 square foot storage building with three conditions.
City Planning Director Dean Walrack said the conditions call for a state floodplain permit, the stormwater management methods are designed and constructed in accordance to the city engineering department specifications and a new drive approach is narrowed to 40 feet wide at the street.
A fourth condition calling for the removal of a existing drive on the south side of the property was dropped.
The building would be used for storage of material and taller vehicles.
The site is presently a designated wetland and in a floodplain, which would require additional permits from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.
Jepson Electric is located at 209 West Garfield. They currently have seven employees. No new employees are expected to be added with the new building.
