COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Two major road construction projects are set to begin today in Branch County
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is initiating a $1.9 million investment to repair over 15.4 miles of I-69. Spanning from the Indiana state line up to East Central Road near Kinderhook Township, this highway project involves extensive concrete repairs, joint resealing, and shoulder chip-sealing.
Motorists who travel this route should prepare for single-lane closures and traffic restrictions, with construction slated to continue through mid-October.
Meanwhile, a major street reconstruction gets underway in Union City as crews begin completely rebuilding North Broadway Street. The extensive work will take place from the cemetery area to the Broadway Street bridge, which accommodates more than 1.8 million vehicles annually.
This downtown improvement project also entails replacing concrete parking areas, resulting in temporary road closures and traffic alterations.
While vehicle traffic will face disruptions, village officials say that local business access will remain fully open via open sidewalks, side streets, and surrounding alternative parking areas.
