COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Betty Pomante recently retired after eight years as the Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) Coordinator at the Burnside Center in Coldwater, so Debbie Ambrose was hired as the new MMAP Coordinator in May.
Ambrose previously worked as assistant manager in the radiology department at the Community Health Center of Branch County, manager of a home medical equipment business, and executive director of an assisted living home. Ambrose says she “enjoys helping people of all generations and is looking forward to a new adventure as MMAP Coordinator.”
Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) is a free health-benefit counseling service for Medicare/Medicaid beneficiaries and their caregivers. The office is run by a part-time coordinator, and the rest of the staff are dedicated volunteers.
MMAP counselors are specialists trained in Medicare and Medicaid law and regulations, health insurance counseling, and relevant insurance products. MMAP counselors are not connected with any insurance company, nor are they licensed to sell insurance. Their purpose is to help clients find options so they can make educated decisions.
