COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A request from the Branch County Sheriff’s Department to pre-fund one of two boats requested for the 2021 budget was brought forward to next week’s regular by the Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday morning.
The Marine Patrol currently has three boats and it looking to add a 17-foot Whaler boat to its fleet.
County Administrator Bud Norman said the purchase of the boat would be moved up so that it would available for the start of the boating season.
Sheriff John Pollack said they wanted to go over the specifications on one of the quotes.
There have been two quotes so far, one for over $46,000 and another for about $51,000.
If approved, the funding for the boat would either be after the middle of the year or through capital outlay.
