PORTAGE, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s cross country teams started their season Friday morning at Portage West Middle School for the Portage Central Early Bird Meet. Both squads finished in eighteenth place. The Cardinal boys finished with 518 points, while the Lady Cards had 442 points. Holland Christian and Rockford won the boys and girls races, respectively.
For Coldwater’s boys, Sebastian Hernandez finished 73rd, Luke Aerts was 93rd, Lucas Newberry 103rd, Drew Vanderpuyl 210th, and Collin Long 218th. A total of 417 runners across 24 teams were entered in the boys race.
For the Cardinal girls, Gwen Eby came in 63rd, Ellerie Bucklin 98th, Mya McBride 111th, Ellie Aughenbaugh 123rd, and Miyah Moore 226th. A total of 367 runners across 21 teams took part in the girls race.

Coldwater’s next race will be the Hillsdale Booster Club Invitational on Wednesday, September 2nd, at Owens Park.
