BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Quincy’s girls volleyball team went 2-2-1 and made it to the Gold Bracket semifinals Saturday at the Carrie Adams Invitational, hosted by St. Philip at Harper Creek High School.
In pool play, the Orioles tied Centreville 22-25, 25-14; swept Climax-Scotts 25-17, 28-18; and lost to Hillsdale Academy 25-23, 25-16, finishing second in their pool and advancing to the Gold Bracket. Quincy defeated Concord in the quarterfinals 20-25, 28-18, 15-9 and lost to Kalamazoo Central in the semifinals 25-12, 18-25, 15-13.
Ashlyn Fickle led the way for the Lady O’s with 44 kills, 8 service aces, and 39 assists across the tournament, while Laura Bostic recorded 25 kills and 38 digs, and Kora Timmons added 17 kills and 30 assists. Kenzi Maynard had a team-high 10 aces and 34 digs, and Alexis Reif dished out 42 assists.
Quincy will take a 3-3-1 record to their next home tri-match on September 2nd against Camden-Frontier and Benton Harbor.
LELAND, MI – Bronson started their season going 0-4 at the Leland Invitational, dropping their matches against Morley Stanwood, Portage Northern, Fowler, and Plymouth Christian Academy 2-0.
Head coach Jean LaClair commented, “While we definitely had some frustrations along the way, boy, did we grow throughout these four matches! So proud of the progress we made and the lessons we learned. Already looking forward to getting back in the gym on Monday and continuing to get better!”
The Vikings will host a quad with Hastings, Jonesville, and Vicksburg on Saturday.
