BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball action Saturday afternoon, Coldwater rallied to defeat Bronson 11-10 in a wild championship game of the Bronson Polish Classic.
Coldwater led 8-4 entering the last of the sixth inning before Bronson scored six runs to take a 10-8 lead. Coldwater scored three in the top of the seventh to win the game and the tournament title.
Austin Roby led the Cardinal offense with four hits while Zach Rigot and Porter Skidmore both had two RBI’s. Brady Warner was the winning pitcher in relief.
Coldwater advanced to the title game with an 8-4 win over Parchment at Lowe Field as the Cardinals had five extra base hits. Austin Santure was the winning pitcher. His brother Lucas belted a home run and had a two-run double while Bryce Lafferty had a two-run triple. Warner and Roby also collected doubles.
Bronson advanced to the finals with a 15-5 win over Comstock. With a run in the first inning, Ethan Cossairt broke the school record for the most runs in a career. He now sits at 130 for his career.
Quincy played two games on Saturday at Oestrike Stadium on the campus of EMU. The Orioles beat Clarkston Everest Collegiate 14-4 as winning pitcher Chandler Locke pitched a complete game for his fourth victory of the season. Logan Banks and Caleb McCavit both had three hits. McCavit also drove in three runs. Quincy lost to Jackson Lumen Christi 8-5 after the Orioles opened the game by scoring all of their runs in the first inning. Matt Hagaman had three hits. Banks, Locke, McCavt and Drew Schely, a call up from the JV squad, also had two hits. The Orioles finished the regular season with a 14-20 record.
