COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Following several days of early fall like weather, get ready for a potent return of summer heat and heavy humidity as a late-season warming trend moves in next week.
Following a brief stretch of comfortable, mild weather to close out August, the National Weather Service (NWS) predicts a strong high-pressure ridge will push daytime temperatures back into the upper 80s and low 90s beginning Monday.
Tropical air pulling northward from the Gulf of Mexico is expected to surge into the region, elevating dew points and driving heat index values uncomfortably high during the peak hours of Tuesday and Wednesday.
While the NWS says this could be one of the final significant heat surges before a structurally drier and cooler autumn pattern sets in later in September, we here in southern Michigan will have to crank up the air conditioning for at least a few more days.
