COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School girls varsity soccer team closed out the regular season on a winning note Wednesday, beating Jackson Northwest 3-2 in the Interstate 8 Conference Silver Division tournament.
After Northwest took the early 1-0 lead four minutes into the game, the Lady Cardinals tied the score three minutes later on a goal from Olivia Foley. Coldwater got two second half goals from Malorie Rzepka, the first assisted by Jayda Kelly and the second by Olivia Foley, to take a 3-1 lead. Northwest got a goal back with 14 minutes left in the game, to make the final margin 3-2.
Nadia Kiersey made four saves in goal, as Coldwater outshot Northwest 13-9.
The Cardinals finish the regular season at 4-11 overall and 3-6 in the Interstate 8 Conference. They will host Mason in the first round of district play Tuesday at 6:00 pm.
