COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings wanted to make a statement following their 35-14 loss at defending Big 8 champion Springport last week. Mission accomplished, as the Vikings rocked Stockbridge in a 59-6 victory Thursday night at Cardinal Field.
Bronson’s defense forced five Panther turnovers and sacked quarterback Evan Killinger four times. Stockbridge was held to 93 total net yards, including -11 yards on the ground. The Vikings, meanwhile, collected 394 rushing yards and finished with 506 net yards and nine scores.
Bronson led 28-0 through the first quarter thanks to a 43-yard pass from Owen Losinski to Dalton Hoard, a 7-yard QB keeper from Losinski, a 12-yard score from Ben Stevens, and a 16-yard TD from Reid Stukey. Losinski added a 5-yard keeper early in the second, while Stockbridge got their only score late in the period on a 31-yard pass from Killinger to Tommy Bills.
The Vikings led 35-6 at halftime and blanked the Panthers the rest of the way. In the third, Bronson scored on a 45-yard Stukey run and a 27-yard scamper from Garry Lord. Stevens busted open a 73-yard score in the fourth, and Karsen Scare added a 1-yard TD late. Most of the second half was played with a running clock.
Reid Stukey finished with 12 carries for 199 yards and two touchdowns, while Ben Stevens had 7 carries for 109 yards and 2 scores. Garry Lord had 2 carries for 34 yards, and Karsen Scare had 2 carries for 27 yards. Owen Losinski was 6-for-14 through the air for 112 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions; he also had two carries for 12 yards and a pair of scores. Dalton Hoard had a 43-yard TD reception, and Devin Stuart had two catches for 24 yards. Unoffically, Karsen Scare had a team-high 5 tackles and a sack to help pace the defense.
The Vikings improved to 1-1 overall and in the Big 8. They will take on cross-county rival Union City next Friday at Alumni Field.
