JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Not only did Quincy improve to 2-0 overall and in the Big 8 with their 39-0 shutout win at East Jackson, they also rewrote the school’s record books, as three Oriole football records were broken during the game.
Noah Rufenacht needed just one catch to take sole possession of the school’s career reception record; he finished the night with two receptions for 68 yards and now has 81 career receptions for 1,087 yards. Ryan Kempter set the old record for career receptions and yards during the 2024 season.
Following up on his six-touchdown performance in Week 1 against Maple Valley, Noah Kelley had 9 carries for 190 yards and three touchdowns against the Trojans. Kelley now has 31 career touchdowns, breaking the old record of 30 set by Jim Supianoski back in 1982.
Quarterback Joe Gray was 6-of-7 passing for 98 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, Xander Wood had a team-high 6 tackles, while JJ Wright and Gibson James had 5 apiece. Kaden Cutler had a 90-yard interception return and a fumble recovery.
Quincy returns home next Friday, September 11th, to host Stockbridge on Military & First Responders Night.
