COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school soccer, Coldwater dropped their opening game in the Interstate 8 Conference Silver Division tournament, falling at home to Hastings 4-2 Monday.
Hastings opened up a 2-0 lead before Malorie Rzepka got the Cardinals first goal with 10 minutes to play in the first half, assisted by Olivia Foley. Rzepka tied the score 2-2 with 2:44 to play in the half, assisted by goalkeeper Nadia Kiersey. Hastings retook the lead in the second half with 28 minutes to play, and scored their 4th goal with nine minutes to play.
Kiersey made 11 saves in goal, as the Lady Cardinals fell to 2-6 in the Interstate 8 Conference and 3-11 overall. They will host Jackson Northwest Wednesday night in the Silver Division third place game.
The Coldwater JV team fell to Hastings 3-0.
