COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Three teacher led initiatives in the Coldwater Community School district are receiving financial support from the Enrichment Fund held at the Branch County Community Foundation.
Lisa Miller made a presenattion on the grants to the CColdwater Board of Education Monday, and said three grants were awarded out of the 13 applications that were submitted this year.
Karen Kiss at Coldwater High School was awarded $2,400 for increased technology understanding. Christine Hamblen, a third grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary, received a$1,429 grant for a brain books program. Stephanie Spolyar from Max Larsen Elementary received a $1,000 grant for bilingual books and materials.
Since the fund was established in 2004, nearly $22,000 has been granted to local teachers. The grant funds are used to improve classrooms and enhance the learning experience for students.

In other business, the board approved the proposed Branch Intermediate School District budget for 2018-2019 following presentations from Superintendent Joe Lopez and Business Manager Diane Shiery.
