COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Getting caught with drugs in March while he was on probation for a sex crime has earned a Sherwood man some time in the Michigan Department of Corrections.
21-year-old Cody Lee Edwards was ordered to serve from 18 months to 10 years in prison on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after entering a guilty plea to being in possession of methamphetamine. He was given credit for 56 days already served.
Edwards was told to serve one year in jail and he was placed on five years of probation in October 2016 after he entered a guilty plea to a charge of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct.
Edwards entered into a plea agreement at that time with prosecutors that called for the dismissal of a third degree C.S.C. count in exchange for his guilty plea.
The victim was between 13 and 16 years old.
