JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy High School boys finished second while the girls were fifth at the Division Three track regional meet held on Saturday at East Jackson. Hanover-Horton won the boys meet with 125 1/2 points followed by the Orioles with 76 and Hillsdale with 65.
Quincy winners were Bryce Ruhl in the long jump and Jonathan Purvis in the discus. Ruhl, Devan Fisher, Luke Rufenacht and Ryan Gibson teamed up to win the 400 relay. Fisher was third in the 100 while the 3200 relay team of Luke Hollenbaugh, Joshua Pepper, Erik Butchart and Nathan Nohr finished third.
Adrian Madison won the girls meet with 114 points while Quincy compiled 57 1/2 points. Emily Hollenbaugh was third in the high jump while Madelyn Allman took second in both of the hurdle races as she qualified for the State Finals in four events.
Harmony Harpster was fourth in the 800. The 400 relay team of Allman, Harpster, Hollenbaugh and Mackenzie Horsfall finished second. The 3200 relay team of Haley Crabbs, Harpster, Avery Rufenacht and Anna Turner also finished second.
Baseball—
Quincy got to the finals in the Brent Beeler bracket of the Al Glick Classic in Jackson County on Saturday before they lost to Brooklyn Columbia Central 8-6 in eight innings.
Quincy’s softball team went 1-2 at the Al Glick Tournament. They lost to Parma Western 7-1, defeated Jackson 15-7 and lost to Jonesville 3-1.
Among the events rained out on Saturday were the Coldwater Stout and Sons baseball tournament, the Coldwater girls softball invitational, Bronson baseball at Adrian Lenawee Christian as well as Union City baseball and softball home games against Pittsford.
Clay Target—
Quincy clay target team is currently seventh in their conference with a team total of 4,161 points. Ashton Morris and Hamilton Spieth tied for first for the week with a score of 45. Brady Ward was second with 41; Nathan White third with 39; Sam Wortz fourth with 38; and Kenny Smock fifth with 37. Three Quincy girls are currently in the conference top 25. Holiday Williams is in 10th place, Lydia Weaver is in 20th place and Anna Richer is in 24th place.
