EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) – High school cross country teams from around the state, including Coldwater and Union City, took part in the Spartan Invitational Friday at MSU’s Forest Akers East Golf Course.
Bronze Division
The Cardinals ran in the Bronze Division, for Division 2 schools. The boys finished 20th out of 32 teams with 498 points, while the girls were 23rd out of 28 teams with 538 points.
Sebastian Hernandez was the top finisher for Coldwater’s boys team with a 65th place finish. Luke Aerts finished 73rd, Lucas Newberry was 86th, Drew Vanderpuyl came in 136th, and Collin Long was 162nd.
For the Lady Cards, Ellerie Bucklin was tops for her team with a 77th place finish. Mya McBride was 98th, Ellie Aughenbaugh came in 124th, Miyah Moore was 164th, and Ella Thompson finished 168th.
White Division
Union City ran in the White Division, for schools in Division 3 and 4. The boys team came in 23rd out of 32 teams with 570 points. The girls squad did not have enough runners for a team score.
For the Charger boys, Cullen Decker finished 33rd, Noah June was 53rd, Luke McCown came in 138th, Luke Arlt finished 221st, and Jack Dibert was 232nd.
The Lady Chargers were led by an 84th place finish from Parker Williams. Allison Gautsche was 89th, Jasreman Kaur came in 128th, and Carly Smith was 147th.

Coldwater will run in the first Interstate 8 jamboree of the season Tuesday at Harper Creek. Union City will be at Ella Sharp Park in Jackson Wednesday for the JPEC Invitational.
