COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Gas prices across Michigan continue to soar as the statewide average for regular unleaded fuel jumped 21-cents overnight to reach $4.75 per gallon. Driven by worsening international oil market volatility and regional supply disruptions, the sudden spike has shattered household budgets across the Great Lakes State.
Localized pain at the pump is even worse in Branch County, where the average price per gallon skyrocketed nearly 30 cents in the last 24 hours to $4.85 , up from Wednesday’s average of $4.59.

The rapid price inflation outpaces the rest of the country, leaving Michigan’s statewide metrics significantly higher than the surging national average of $4.38 per gallon.
Even in neighboring Indiana, where a state-mandated gas tax holiday has been actively suppressing pump costs since the spring, regional averages are now touching the $4.00 per gallon mark in select areas.
Relief remains nowhere in sight, as some stations in the Lansing area have already begun raising their prices to $5.00 per gallon.
The record high for gas prices in Michigan was set in June of 2022 at $5.11 per gallon.
