COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Heavy rain and thunder is putting a damper on Coldwater’s largest fall festival.
Over 215 vendors, food trucks, and community groups signed up for the annual Applefest and Craft Show, but appears many stayed away because of the rain that began shortly before the event’s start time at 9:00 a.m.

The free, family-friendly festival had a packed schedule of seasonal activities, featuring live musical performances, a dedicated kids’ fair, and the popular community apple pie-eating contest. Kid’s activities at the Coach Eby Youth and Family Center have been moved inside their gymnasium.
The thunderstorms Saturday have affected other outdoor activities. The Coldwater High School JV and varsity soccer games against Melvindale have been canceled, and early games for Branch County AYSO soccer have been postponed until Sunday.
