ONSTED, MI (WTVB) – Quincy’s girls volleyball team went 4-1 at the Onsted Invitational Saturday and came back with a runner-up trophy.
The Orioles went 3-0 in pool play, beating Vandercook Lake 25-9, 25-10, defeating Monroe Jefferson 25-19, 25-23, and getting past Vandercook Lake 25-21, 25-21. Quincy downed Adrian Madison in the semifinals 25-20, 13-25, 25-13, and lost in the championship match to Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central 25-14, 25-8.
On the day, Ashlyn Fickle led her team with 30 kills, 28 digs, and 14 aces while also contributing 5 blocks and 24 assists. Kora Timmons added 27 kills and 7 blocks, and Laura Bostic had 13 kills and 6 blocks. Alexis Reif dished out 43 assists and served up 9 aces. JC Quimby had 22 digs, and Kenzi Maynard had 21 digs and 9 aces.
Quincy is now 11-5-1 on the season. They will visit Stockbridge on Tuesday.
