BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school softball Tuesday, Coldwater swept an Interstate 8 Conference doubleheader from Harper Creek by scores of 12-1 and 11-0, as they extended their winning streak to nine games.
Darlene Horn and Mia Rzepka were the winning pitchers. Rzepka, Tyler Scheid and Jamie Wellet all collected two hits in the first game. Horn and Scheid both had three hits in the second game. Coldwater is now 17-11 overall.
Coldwater also swept the J.V. doubleheader by scores of 21-3 and 28-15.
Quincy solidified the Big 8 Conference championship with a sweep over Concord by scores of 11-3 and 12-0. Morgan Michael and Kelsey Mainstone were the winning pitchers. Mickala Signor and Hayley Wineland both had four RBI’s in the opener while Rylei Hollenbaugh had four hits.
Megan Kirt drove in four runs in the nightcap.
Union City swept a doubleheader from Homer by scores of 9-5 and 10-6. Quinn Adams was the winning pitcher in the first game. Allison Adams earned the save. Autumn Carpenter had three doubles, a homer and four RBI’s.
Allison Adams was the winning pitcher in the second game and helped her own cause with two homers.
Bronson swept a Big 8 doubleheader from Reading by scores of 11-1 and 4-1. Aubrey Ballou was the winning pitcher in both games. Mackenna Quick had three hits in the opener while Maddie Ratkowski had two hits in the second contest.
The Vikings are now 7-5 in the Big 8 and 12-13 overall.
