COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals had to their rethink their offensive scheme after record-setting quarterback Dracyn Foster was ruled out for the rest of the regular season due to injury. Mission accomplished, as the new-look Cardinals ran for 445 yards in their 47-27 Homecoming win against Jackson Northwest Friday at Cardinal Field.
Trevor Mitchell had 13 carries for 243 yards and three touchdowns, as he scored on runs of 40, 7, and 88 yards. Not to be outdone, Royale Fleming finished with 8 carries for 100 yards and a score, and Evan Lewis had 3 carries for 83 yards and a TD. Quarterback Mayson Moore, just up from the JV team, had 10 carries for 19 yards and a touchdown. He only attempted two passes the entire night and connected with Dayton Ennis on both of them for 55 yards. Ares Wagoner led the defense with 9 tackles, while Landon Dirschell added 8.
With the win, Coldwater improved to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the Interstate 8. They will try to spoil Harper Creek’s Homecoming next Friday.
