COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball Thursday, the Coldwater Cardinals could not overcome four errors as they lost to Battle Creek Lakeview 8-1 in a nonconference game on Parents Night at Lowe Field.
Each team collected eight hits. The only Coldwater run came in the third inning on a RBI single by Zach Rigot. Oliver Winter had two hits for Coldwater.
Battle Creek Lakeview swept Coldwater in the junior varsity doubleheader 17-0 and 10-2.
Quincy swept Napoleon in a baseball doubleheader. The scores were not available. Caleb McCavit and Trenton Atkins were the winning pitchers. Matt Hagaman had a three run triple while Logan Banks had a two run single for the Orioles.
Bronson won their 20th game of the season as Ethan Cossairt tossed a four-hitter and struck out six in the Vikings 2-1 victory over Climax-Scotts. Cossairt did not allow a walk in getting the victory. Brendan Bell and Hudson Wotta collected the RBI’s for the the Vikings who are now 20-3.
Girls Softball—
Coldwater improved to 15-11 and extended their winning streak to seven straight as they swept Battle Creek Lakeview 15-1 and 15-0. Darlene Horn and Mia Rzepka were the winning pitchers. Samantha Rodesiler had two doubles and a homer in the opener as she drove in four runs. Horn also had three hits and three RBI’s.
McDonald’s Player of the Game Tyler Scheid had a triple and three RBI’s in the second game.
Coldwater swept Battle Creek Lakeview 21-2 and 23-4 in the J.V. doubleheader.
Bronson dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Clinton by scores of 13-3 and 14-6. Araceli Hernandez had a double and two RBI’s. Dakota Smith homered in the second game. The Vikings record drops to 10-13.
