COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There’s one thing you can’t control and that’s the weather. Organizers for this weekend’s 31st annual Swap Meet and Car Show at the Branch County Fairgrounds are keeping their fingers crossed that the weather holds.
Perfect weather conditions last year led to huge attendance of both classic cars and spectators. The two day total for cars and motorcycles at the show was 1,412, with 1,290 of those vehicles showing up on Saturday. The Saturday total was a one day record for the show.
But the weather forecast for this weekend is indicating Mother Nature maybe a party pooper.
The National Weather Service says showers and thunderstorms are likely for Saturday with highs struggling to get into the upper 50s. Showers are expected to linger into Sunday with highs warming up into the upper 60s.
The event is always held rain or shine. Gates open both Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 a.m..
Saturday’s activities include the Blessing of the Bikes at 12:00 noon, a muffler rap and open header contest at 1:00 p.m. and the cruise through the streets of Coldwater at 4:00 p.m.
The route for the cruise will be north on Jefferson and then west on Chicago before the cars turn right on Marshall. They will then turn left onto Grand and then go north to Bishop. They will go west on Bishop before heading south on Western before turning east on U.S. 12. They will turn right onto Jefferson and head back to the fairgrounds.
Sunday’s activities include a children’s bike show at 12:30 p.m., a children’s bike parade at 1:00 p.m. and the Grand Prize drawing at 3:00 p.m..
