COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The National Association of Letter Carriers will be holding its 26th annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive this Saturday.
It’s a national effort that provides assistance to millions of Americans who are struggling to put food on the table and has become the nation’s largest single-day food drive.
Over 71 million pounds of food were donated around the country last year.
To participate, all you have to do is leave a sturdy bag containing nonperishable food items next to your mailbox prior to the time of your regular mail delivery this Saturday.
Participating letter carriers will collect these food donations as they deliver the mail and take them to local food banks.
All of the food collected in Coldwater will be given to the Branch Area Food Pantry on Pierson Street. Bronson food collections will go to the Bronson Food Pantry while food collected in Union City will go to the Lutheran Church.
Quincy postal workers are not taking part in Stamp Out Hunger since Quincy Community Schools are conducting a food drive this Friday as part of the annual Spring Fling Community Service Day.
Last week’s weather forced Spring Fling activities in Quincy to be postponed until this Friday.
