COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The annual Medicare Part D Open Enrollment period begins Thursday, October 15 and runs through December 7, giving seniors the chance to review and change their prescription drug coverage for the upcoming year.
To help navigate these options, the Branch County Commission on Aging is offering free, unbiased counseling at the Burnside Center in Coldwater.
Kordelia Ulrich, the center’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) coordinator, emphasizes that reviewing coverage annually is crucial because plan costs and benefits change every year, meaning seniors could find better value by switching.
The counseling service is entirely free and provided by trained SHIP counselors who are not affiliated with any insurance companies and do not sell any products.
They offer neutral guidance to help Branch County seniors make the best possible decisions for their healthcare needs. Local residents interested in scheduling a Medicare prescription plan review can book an appointment by calling the Burnside Center at 279-6565 ext. 129.
