COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school soccer, Coldwater dropped a pair of games in their own invitational tournament Saturday, falling to Chelsea 3-0 and Linden 3-2. In the first game against Chelsea, Nadia Kiersey made 13 saves in goal.
In the second game, Coldwater took an early 2-0 lead on a pair of goals by Malorle Rzepka midway through the first half. The first goal was assisted by freshman Amber Sunderland. Linden tied up the game shortly before halftime, and scored the game winning goal with 11 minutes to play in the contest.
Otsego ended up winning the Coldwater Invitational, beating Chelsea in a shootout in the championship game.
The Lady Cardinals are now 2-9 on the season and will host Jackson Lumen Christi in Interstate 8 Conference action Wednesday.
Quincy won their invitational tournament on Saturday as they defeated Calhoun Christian 3-1 and Jackson Northwest 1-0. Emily Hollenbaugh scored twice against Calhoun Christian while Katie Rathbun got the other goal. Meri Michael got the only goal in the finals against Northwest.
Quincy improved to 9-2-1.
