COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Jeff Budd has been named the 2026 recipient of the Coldwater Noon Club’s Robert Rumsey Award, a prestigious honor recognizing a lifetime of service, leadership, and community commitment.
The announcement was made by Coldwater Mayor Tom Kramer during a presentation speech on Friday.
Mayor Kramer praised Budd’s extensive career in public service, which included roles as Coldwater’s Finance Director and Treasurer from 1999 to 2010, City Manager from 2010 to 2017, and Director of the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities from 2017 through 2022.
Kramer emphasized that the city is vastly better off today due to Budd’s fair, organized, and deeply respected leadership, which also guided the Coldwater Noon Club through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic during his tenure as club president from 2019 to 2020.
Budd’s dedication to the community extends far beyond his formal civic employment into the local business, youth, and cultural sectors.
A resident of Coldwater since joining the accounting firm Rumsey and Watkins in 1991, Budd currently serves as a member of the Coldwater City Council, sits on the Century Bank and Trust Board of Directors, and has contributed to both the Coldwater/Branch Area Chamber of Commerce and the Tibbits Opera House Finance Committee.
Alongside his current private-sector role as CFO of Sekisui/Voltek and his years spent coaching youth activities, Budd is also celebrating his 30th wedding anniversary this October with his wife, with whom he shares two adult children, Ella and Gavin.
The Robert Rumsey Award celebrates over three decades of Budd utilizing his professional skills and personal time for the enduring benefit of others.
