JONESVILLE, MI (WTVB) – Two persons were killed and another was injured Monday night in a two vehicle crash on U.S. 12 near downtown Jonesville.
Jonesville Police Chief Mike Lance says a car driven by 32-year-old Travis Dean Stalhood of Jonesville was traveling east at between 60 to 80 miles an hour at about 6:15 p.m. when he clipped a vehicle turning south into a business.
Stalhood’s car went into the westbound lane and collided head on with a pick-up truck driven by George Sparks.
Stalhood and a passenger, 32-year-old Jessica Marie Witschen of North Adams, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Sparks was taken to Hillsdale Hospital after suffering broken bones. His injuries were described as non-life threatening.
U.S. 12 had to be shut down for almost five hours after the crash.
Jonesville Police is still investigating with assistance from the Michigan State Police. The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department, Jonesville firefighters and the Reading Emergency Unit also assisted on Monday night.
