COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Community Schools Superintendent Paul Flynn announced during Monday night’s Board of Education meeting that the Coldwater High School graduation ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 23, 2027 at 5:00 p.m..
A group of Coldwater High School class officers told the Board last month that the original date of May 21 was in conflict with the M.H.S.A.A. Regional track meet and other athletic events.
Flynn said the change was made after meeting with the students and high school principal Doctor Steven Hope.
Plans call for the ceremony to be held outdoors at Cardinal Field. In case of inclement weather, it will be moved indoors to the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
Initially, district officials planned to have graduation on the same day as the Senior Breakfast, Senior Swing Out and Senior Convocation.
In other business, the Board approved nearly $65,000 in quotes from AirTech Automation for repairs at the Browne Aquatic Center. They also approved a quote of over $16,000 from Stout Excavating Company for the Lowe (LAU) Field reconstruction project and they approved a contract of over $64,000 with Bridges Audio Visual of Marcellus for a new audio system at the Coldwater High School Gymnasium.
The 30-year-old sound system got so bad, a portable system had to be used. The old system was installed when the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium was built in the mid 1990’s
