UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Union City hosted 10 other teams at Alumni Field for the Union City Invitational on Friday. Quincy finished third in the boys meet with 79 points, Union City was fifth with 59.5 points, and Bronson tied with Camden-Frontier for 10th. Olivet edged Marshall by a half-point to claim the boys title, 81 to 80.5. For the Orioles, Jonathan Purvis and Trey Watson went 1-2 in the discus; Bryce Ruhl won the high jump, was runner-up in the long jump, and teamed up with Devan Fisher, Luke Refenacht, and Ryan Gibson to take the 4×100 relay; and Nathan Nohr won the 3200m run and was second in the 1600m run. For the Chargers, Chad Bruce won the 110 and 300 hurdles, while Gavin Hooker won the 400m and was second in the 200m.
In the girls meet, Quincy was second with 76.5 points, Bronson placed fifth with 64 points, and Union City was sixth with 46 points. Harper Creek took the girls title with 116 points. The Orioles won the 4×100 and 4×200 relays, while Emily Hollenbaugh took the high jump title. The Vikings were paced by second-place finishes in the 100m and 200m by Jenna Salek, while Bracy Swift won the long jump for the Chargers.
