COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The historic Tibbits Opera House is bringing back its biggest fundraiser of the year this Saturday, combining nearly five decades of community tradition with a brand-new “dueling pianos” theme.
As the theater’s largest annual fundraising event, the auction is vital to keeping the venue running, typically generating about 15 percent of its yearly budget.
The long standing theater aiming to match or exceed last year’s fundraising total of over 80,000 dollars, offering multiple ways for attendees to participate whether they want to bid or just enjoy the entertainment.
Guests can choose between a full evening gala package or standard admission for the show and auctions, with unique experiences up for grabs.
For $120, the gala dinner package kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and a catered dinner served directly on the historic Tibbits stage, giving diners a rare performer’s-eye view of the auditorium.
For $30, attendees can skip dinner and arrive at 7:30 p.m. for the interactive dueling pianos performance and the main live auction.
Prizes up for bid include jewelry, a trip to Holland, a helicopter ride, and the coveted Barton S. Tibbits sponsorship, which awards the highest bidder four reserved tickets to every single show at the theater for an entire year.
