COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Republicans are not only ready to battle Democrats this fall in the mid-term elections but the news media as well.
Michigan Republican Party Co-Chair Amanda Van Essen Wirth called out the so-called liberal media during her keynote speech on Friday night during the 123rd annual Branch County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner and Program at the Dearth Community Center.
She said while the media will tell young women they should be Democrats, Wirth stated that “being pro life is being pro woman”.
Wirth said despite what is being reported in the media, Michigan Democratic U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow is vulnerable in her re-election bid this year.
She also urged Branch County Republicans to work together after the August primary.
Michigan Republican Party Chair Ron Weiser spoke during the pre-dinner reception.
A moment of silence was held for longtime Branch County Republican supporter Mary Smith who passed away last November at the age of 102. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday morning at the Tibbits Opera House starting at 11:00 a.m. The doors will open at 10:00 a.m.
