COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Michigan voters shattered previous records for a non-presidential election year during Tuesday’s midterms, with more than 4.76 million residents casting ballots.
Surpassing the previous midterm record of 4.5 million votes set in 2022, the historic surge was driven by highly competitive statewide races and the introduction of early in-person voting across the state.
State election officials noted that over 750,000 residents utilized early voting options, a factor political analysts credit with anchoring the monumental turnout.
In Branch County over 16,000 votes were cast on Tuesday, that was nearly 48% of all the registered voters in the county.
