Vernon Charles Welch, 92, of Allen, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020 at his home. He was born November 12, 1927 in Litchfield, Michigan to Olin E. and Fern (Burlew) Welch. Vernon married Arthureen Thatcher and she preceded him in death in 1993. He later married Betty Pugh and she also preceded him in death in 2005.
Vernon served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War. He retired as a Supervisor at Quincy Products where he was employed for over 35 years. Vernon was also co-owner and operator of Welch Auto Parts in Allen from its origination in 1946 until present. He was a member of the Quincy American Legion and served as a Trustee for Allen Township. In his spare time, Vernon had a passion for farming, but also loved his spending time with his family and his dog, Chubby.
He is survived by his children, Jeffery (Diane) Welch, Donald (Robin) Welch, Debra (Stan) Dorsey, Joy (Andy) Cope, Torianna Welch, Sue VanAken, Joe Nall and Mike Nall; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren ; and siblings, Velma Ward, Virginia Pope, Virgil Thatcher and Versel Welch.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; former wives, Arthureen and Betty; siblings, Vera Taylor, Vivian DeVolder, Victoria Welch, Violet Sharen, Viola Wickham, Victor Welch, Vedea Lothamer and Verlin Welch; and two grandchildren, Justin Vandegriff and Reed Welch.
A graveside service will be held for Vernon Welch on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the South Allen Cemetery with Pastor Larry Rubingh officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Reading Emergency Unit or Hospice of Hillsdale County.
