HASTINGS, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school soccer, Coldwater captured the Interstate 8 Conference title Tuesday night with a 3-0 win at Hastings. The Cardinals finished the conference schedule 7-0, not allowing a goal in league play.
Mana Ahmed, Shuaib Aljabaly and Faheem Abdullah each scored, with assists for Brandon Cortes, Jonathon Brownell, and Jacob Knaack. Balal Nasser made two saves in goal for Coldwater’s 10th straight shutout and the 13th of the season.
The Cardinals are now 15-1-1 overall, and will play in non-conference action at Edwardsburg Thursday. They are ranked #7 in this week’s Michigan Coaches Association Division 2 Poll.
In the J.V. match, Coldwater shut out Hastings 5-0. Dominick Kelly got the hat trick for the Cardinals. The other Cardinal goals were scored by Shaif Ahmed and Koby Stewart. Coldwater outshot Hastings 17-1. Alex Schaale recorded the shutout in goal.
The Coldwater J.V.’s are now 10-2-1.

Bronson is ranked second again this week in Class C in the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association poll behind St. Mary’s Catholic Central. The Vikings are 30-9-4 so far this season.
—CROSS COUNTRY—
Concord’s boys and Quincy’s girls were the winners on Tuesday in the Big 8 Cross Country Jamboree hosted by Quincy.
Concord won the boys meet with 30 points followed by Jonesville with 53 points and Homer with 76. Quincy finished fourth while Union City was seventh. Nathan Nohr was the top finisher for Quincy as he was sixth while Ian Trail was 18th. Union City’s Chase Hurley was 15th.
Quincy won the girls meet with 46 points followed by Concord with 68 points and Reading with 79 points. Union City finished eighth. Three Quincy runners finished in the top ten. Gabby Porter was fourth, Harmony Harpster was seventh and Meri Michael was eighth. Union City’s Marika Endo was 20th.
—FOOTBALL—There has been a schedule change for Bronson’s final football game of the season. The Vikings will play Lake Michigan Catholic on Friday, October 21st instead of Saturday the 22nd as previously scheduled. The game will be played at Bridgman High School.
