COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A new pork processing facility in Branch County officially went on line Tuesday as scheduled.
The new Clemens Food Group facility is now open for business.
Ground was broken in July 2015.A ribbon cutting ceremony which included Michigan Governor Rick Snyder and Senator Debbie Stabenow took place in late July 2017.
The new facility has provided work for nearly 800 persons. Hogs will be coming into the $250 million plant from a 150 mile radius.
Automation is being used to replace various manual processes that are typically found in a meat processing facility. Some of the equipment includes water jet systems that will be used high pressure water to cut boneless meats.
Automated scaling and sorting systems will also be used to assure products meet precise weight requirements.
