UNDATED (WTVB) – The Coldwater varsity boys soccer team opened their season by beating Brownstown Woodhaven 2-1 in a rain shortened contest. The game ended 10 minutes into the second half because of continued lightning and unplayable field conditions. Angel Rodriguez and Mubarick Said scored the two Cardinal goals, with one assist for Erik Corona. Balal Nasser made 5 saves in goal.
The Coldwater JV team played to a scoreless tie with Woodhaven.
Both teams will face Portage Northern and Plainwell today in the Justin Bailey Shootout at the Portage Soccer Complex.
–Quincy opened its season with a rain-shortened 1-0 win against visiting Leslie. The game was called at halftime due to deteriorating field conditions. Alex Pickell scored the Orioles’ lone goal. They hit the road Monday for a game at Pennfield.
