PLEASANT LAKE, IN (WTVB) – Nearly 50 head of bison are still roaming, after breaking through a fence on the property of the Pleasant Lake Buffalo Farm in rural Steuben County.
Farm owner Cathy Sanders told WANE-TV in Fort Wayne that 58 bison had gotten away on Sunday. She explained it’s mating season and Sanders thought some of the bulls broke a fence down after getting into a fight.
The attempts to corral the animals Monday included the use of a plane.
The Hamilton Police Department first alerted the public to use extreme caution about the loose bison on Monday morning.
The buffalo farm is located east of Pleasant Lake on East Johnson Lake Road.
