COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Area Agency on Aging has announced the start of a new program that will serve the victims of elder abuse in the area.
Program Director Laura Sutter says the new Services to Victims of Elder Abuse is supported by a nearly $200,000 grant that has been awarded by the Michigan Crime Victim Services Commission.
Eligible participants are any victim of abuse, neglect and/or exploitation who are over 60 years of age. Those over 18 who are dependent on others due to a disability are also eligible for the program.
There are nearly a dozen services available to eligible participants. To make a referral, call the Area Agency on Aging office at (517) 278-2538 or toll free at (888) 615-8009.
Elder Abuse Victim Specialists will be available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. with additional times by appointment.
