QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Fire Association has approved the purchase of a new fire truck but they still need funding approval from Butler and Algansee Townships. The Village of Quincy and Quincy Township have already secured their portion of the funding through the passing of a 2017 Fire Millage.
A final decision should be made within a month.
A study by the consulting firm Emergency Vehicle Response found that the current fleet is well beyond its front-line service life and that a top priority was the replacement of a rescue engine that was in poor condition.
Pierce Manufacturing made the only bid at over $712,000. With the addition of equipment and funds set aside for contingencies, the total cost of the project was over $750,000.
More information about the truck as well as a diagram can be found at the Quincy Fire Department’s Facebook page.
