QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Community Schools Board of Education is scheduled to approve the hiring of a new High School principal Monday night.
The board will be asked to take action on a two-year contract for Joseph Wright.
He would take over for David Spalding, who reached a separation agreement with the school district in April.
Spalding had been the Quincy High School principal for 17 years. He had been on administrative leave for nearly a year in connection with the Jason Ferrell scandal and controversy. A misdemeanor criminal case against Spaulding was dismissed last month. As part of the separation agreement, Spalding agreed not to take any legal action against the school district.
Also Monday night, the school board is scheduled to approve a contractor to remove the debris and build a new bus garage. A storm May 2, 2018 that had winds gusting up to 72 miles an hour caused part of the roof on the district’s bus garage to get blown off.
