KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s Lady Cardinals saw their Class A tournament run end with a 54-40 defeat to second ranked East Lansing on Thursday night in the girls basketball regional finals at Kalamazoo Loy Norrix. Coldwater trailed 29-20 at the half but charged back to tie the game at 31 with 3:15 left in the third. East Lansing responded with a 10-1 run and punched their ticket to a quarterfinal match-up with Muskegon. Olivia Foley and Tyler Scheid each scored eight points with Scheid adding nine rebounds. Carlee Crabtree added seven points and ten rebounds while Malorie Rzepka had five points and 10 rebounds. Coldwater ends their season with a 22-3 record with their 22 wins being the third highest total in the program’s history.

Class B—Jackson Northwest 48, Fowlerville 43 (Northwest will play Hamilton in the state quarterfinals at Marshall on Tuesday)
Class D—Athens 41, Martin 28 (Athens will face Adrian Lenawee Christian in the state quarterfinals at Gull Lake on Tuesday)
Also on Tuesday night, Bronson will be hosting the Class C quarterfinal game between undefeated Schoolcraft and Ypsilanti Arbor Prep.

Coldwater and Quincy will be playing for district championships this evening.
Class A at Gull Lake
The Coldwater Cardinals will face Kalamazoo Loy Norrix in the Class A Boys Basketball District championship game at Richland Gull Lake on Friday night. Coldwater is 18-3 and have they won seven straight games including Wednesday night’s 58-44 triumph over Battle Creek Lakeview. Loy Norrix is 12-10. They had to go into overtime on Monday to defeat Battle Creek Central 35-33 and then defeated Harper Creek 60-54 on Wednesday.
Coldwater will be trying to win their first district title since 2010. The winner advances to Monday night’s regional semifinals at Battle Creek Lakeview for a 7:00 p.m. game against either Mason or Okemos.

Class C at Homer
It’s the third time around for the Quincy Orioles and the Homer Trojans as they will play for a Class C District crown tonight on the Trojans home court. Quincy beat out Homer for the Big 8 Conference title. They split the two regular season games with the road team winning each time. Quincy is 18-4 while Homer is 12-9. The winner advances to Monday’s regional semifinals at Constantine for a 7:15 p.m. game against either Niles Brandywine or Cassopolis.
